SKILL.md# LinkedIn Profile FetcherA skill for attempting to fetch and analyze Linked In profile data from public URLs. ## Important Limitations ### LinkedIn Access Restrictions - LinkedIn requires authentication for most profile data - Public profiles show limited information without login - Linked In actively blocks automated scraping - Rate limiting and anti-bot measures are in place ## Approach Using Available Tools ### Method 1: WebFetch ToolWhen provided with a LinkedIn URL, this skill will: 1. Attempt to fetch available public data using Web Fetch 2. Parse the limited HTML thats publicly accessible 3. Extract any available information 4. Note what data requires authentication ### Method 2: Structured Data Capture For authenticated users who can see full profiles: 1. Provide a template for manual data capture 2. Guide through systematic information gathering 3. Store data in structured format ## Usage Pattern ### For Public Profile URLs 1. Use WebFetch with the Linked In URL 2. Extract available meta tags and public content 3. Identify what additional data needs manual capture 4. Generate partial analysis from available data ### WebFetch AttemptWeb Fetchhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/[username]/, Extract profile headline, about section, current position, recent activity, and any visible content ## What This Skill Can Capture ### From Public View Limited - Basic name and headline sometimes - Public profile URL - Limited about section if set to public - Some work experience if public - Profile photo URL if public ### What Requires Authentication - Full about section - Recent posts and activity - Complete work history - Skills and endorsements - Recommendations - Contact information - Full connection count ## Recommended Workflow 1. Initial Fetch: Attempt Web Fetch for public data 2. Gap Identification: List what data is missing 3. Manual Capture: Guide user to capture missing data 4. Structured Storage: Save all data in consistent format 5. Analysis: Generate insights from complete dataset ## Integration with linkedin-profile-analystOnce data is captured whether partially through Web Fetch or completely through manual capture, pass it to the linkedin-profile-analyst persona for deep analysis. ## Ethical Considerations - Respect Linked Ins Terms of Service - Only capture publicly available information programmatically - Use manual capture for authenticated content - Store data securely and use only for legitimate business purposes - Dont attempt to bypass authentication or rate limits ## Example Usage javascript// Attempt to fetch public profile dataconst profileUrl = https://www.linkedin.com/in/cspenn/const publicData = await WebFetchprofileUrl, Extract all visible profile information including name, headline, about section, experience, recent posts, and any public content// Analyze what was capturedif publicData.limited console.logLimited public data available. Manual capture needed for: console.log - Recent posts and full activity console.log - Complete about section console.log - Detailed work history// Store captured datasaveToProfilechris-penn, publicData// Generate analysis with available dataanalyzeProfilechris-penn, public Data ## Fallback StrategyIf WebFetch cannot access LinkedIn data due to authentication requirements: 1. Provide structured template for manual capture 2. Guide through profile sections systematically 3. Ensure consistent data format 4. Store in tools-internal/linkedin-data/profiles/This skill acknowledges Linked Ins access restrictions while providing the best possible approach to gather profile data for legitimate business analysis.
